Abstract

The Bengkel Prestasi program was conducted from May to September 2026 to support History Education students at Universitas Jambi in developing competition proposals through structured academic mentoring. The program involved 30 students and four lecturer mentors. Activities included needs assessment, interest-based group formation, workshops, writing clinics, oral feedback, proposal review, presentation practice, and reflection. Program outcomes were examined descriptively through activity observations, mentoring reflections, and available proposal documents. A comparison of two versions of the SATRIA proposal identified revisions in its research focus, supporting literature, conceptual indicators, and evaluation design, although some revisions were completed after the program period. Three additional proposals, STEALDI, WASH-RIMBO, and Selapik Educare, were documented in their revised versions without corresponding initial drafts. According to the authors, all four proposals were submitted to competitions, but submission records and selection outcomes were not independently verified. The program documented a structured mentoring process, tangible proposal outputs, and subsequent competition submissions. However, the available evidence does not establish measurable improvements in students' competencies or the causal effectiveness of the program. These findings highlight the importance of systematic documentation and outcome monitoring in future student competition mentoring initiatives.
